New Ways Projects
The New Ways Partnership is firmly focused on activities that add real value to the Borders, and either could not or would not happen if agencies worked on their own. For example, a partnership approach is critical for:
- Getting the Waverley Railway in place
- Securing the joint Further and Higher Education campus at Netherdale
- Increasing affordable housing supply across the region
- Increasing average wages and diversifying employment opportunities
- Increasing the % of waste recycled, and reducing waste generated
- Community safety
- Improving the health and well-being of Scottish Borders Residents
- Developing the Borders as a key tourism destination, in national and international markets
The importance, the scale and the complexity of these projects and initiatives requires partners to come together. In many cases, budgets are pooled, premises are shared, and expertise and information is disseminated through the partnership. Barriers between separate organisations are broken down and the focus is firmly on the future benefits to service users and to the Borders as a whole.
